Casio Gshock MudmanMay 30, 2010 I bought this watch mainly because it is a G-Shock and because it was called a Mudman. I am a mud engineer in the oil industry and I thought the name was fitting. This watch is replacing a 7 year old G-Shock I have worn at work. It was a tough watch and inexpensive. This new Mudman Solar Atomic is really nice. It feels stronger then my old one. I like the solar charging battery. Button are hard to press but maybe it should be so that buttons dont get pressed automatically when you are in the thick of it. I have only had this watch for 2 weeks, so, so far nothing bad has happened to it.

GW9000 OR A G9000 Mudman?May 24, 2010 The GW9000 Is the same Feel and look as the Original G9000 Mudman - Band, Case, Bezels with Gshock Looks. You Lose features that made the Mudman Great and Gain Solar and Atomic Time Correction which are Wonderful Features. Atomic keeps to the Second - Here in NJ, Atomic sync works even away from a window in the early morning hours.
What you LOSE from the Original Mudman is A-LOT of nice features.
Lose - Dual Stopwatches 1 and 2 Up to 999hrs each with Indicators in Timekeeping mode Red-Green bars top and bottom of LCD area, 0-60min each.
Lose - Flash alarm or alert. When any Alarm or Signal sounds, the Backlight Flashes with it.
Lose - The Very Bright and Crisp DUAL Lum-backlight which lights up the LCD and the Bezel Wording all at once with up to 5seconds of lamp time. Very nice looking.
Lose - 24hr countdown timer with Repeat functions.
Lose - Setting Of Alarms to a Month or Date.
Lose - Day of week and Date all at one shot on one screen. No button pressing from one to the other.
Lose - Viewing the Time while in other functions.
Other Little things on the GW9000 All the - - - - - - - MARKS?
The Little Check boxes next to your indicators is also Cheap/wimpy. Why not make them a Letter "Battery Charge L M H" instead of - - - next to inked LMH. Kinda Cheap feeling there for a 150.00 retail Mudman.
The Atomic Eye Stamps/Markers at the top tells you if your watched sync-ed up the night before is Very Odd. Most are just a Single Marker like on a Pathfinder. Why they Have Five EYEs is kinda pointless.
Sorry GW9000 Mudman, I do still own you.. And love the Solar/Atomics Pathfinders and Gshocks, The Mudman G9000 is a better buy feature wise 50-60 bucks. Battery 18-36 months @ 4bucks a battery.

I'm not in love with it, but it IS a good watch.May 23, 2010 I broke my Orange Monster late last year. For anybody familiar with the monster, you know they are tough to break. I'm rough on watches and I needed a new one. I wore a G-Shock when I was in the Marines (we all did..LOL) so I knew they would hold up so I bought this one. It doesn't look great and it won't turn a lot of heads but at least I won't break it. So far I have no complaints at all. I've been wearing the watch for eight months every day and more often than not I even sleep wearing it.
It's a black plastic digital watch. If you can work with that, this is a great watch to get. Once it's set to your time zone, the atomic solar function means you don't set it again. Mine syncs about 99% of the time and I don't take it off and put it on it's side near a window like I'm supposed to. I've used the stopwatch at soccer matches. I've used the countdown timer at work (I used to use the bezel on the Monster). The alarm is too quiet to wake up with so I use it to sound off at the 9am break at work. The buttons are stiff but I expected as much when I bought it. They aren't too stiff to be functional (a kid can do it, see below) but they are stiff enough you won't accidentally stop the timer. I've found the little nubs on the back don't actually keep it off the wrist but they aren't digging in either. I wear my watch pretty snug so that might be why. I did have an issue with the watch wearing a raw spot on my wrist for the first week or two. I didn't notice it until I took the watch off one day so it wasn't painful but it was rubbing. I don't know if the watch softened up or my wrist toughened up but the problem disappeared. It isn't as big as the pictures make it look but I don't think anybody would call it a small watch either. It has an auto illumination feature that turns on the light when you tilt your wrist. Sometimes it's easier to push the button. I use both.
I gave it five stars because it does everything it is supposed to do and does it perfectly. It is a black plastic watch but I think it's one of the better looking ones out there. If you are looking for a watch that will survive whatever punishment you dish out and work flawlessly doing it, you can't do a whole lot better than this one.
Probably one of the best uses I've found for this watch is as a pool toy. I sit in the chair by the pool with a beer and my son starts in the shallow end of the pool. I start the stopwatch and throw it into the deep end and he sees how fast he can swim across the pool, dive down and stop the watch. It's good for wearing out a high energy kid. I couldn't do that with my Orange Monster.
Mudman Atomic Solar WatchApr 28, 2010 Great watch! I bought this watch after my old g-shock finally died on me after 6+ years of solid service. My only complaint is that the watch does not display both the day of the week and date. The only reason I bring this up is because I work the graveyard shift so my days of the week get a little messed up. You have to choose either one, but other than that the watch is awesome! Great hassle free watch if you hate replacing batteries.

Mudman RulesApr 14, 2010 After two years, it's time for a review - this is a great watch. This is the only watch in my life that: is comfortable (I can't stand leather or metal bands); keeps perfect time (never had a problem syncing); never needs batteries (solar power works well); is water and bomb-proof (OK, haven't tried the latter but it seems like nothing would destroy it).
OK - it's not a dress watch but I never dress up anyway. And the buttons don't bother me.
I'm probably a Casio fan for life!
